Capability Brown

Capability Brown Celebrations

During the tercentenary of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown the Friends of Ampthill Great Park hosted a series of guided walks giving insight into 'Capbility' Brown's influence on the park's landscape.  During the walks the Friends discussed how and why the park has been landscaped and helped visitors recognise the distinctive design features that are present in the park today.  Revered as 'England's greatest gardener' we are proud to be one of, if not the only, public access park to have been designed by 'Capability' Brown.

Our guided walks proved to be so successful that we will be running further guided walks in 2017.  There will be various topics ranging from the rich and varied history of the park to it's spectacular fauna and flora.  If you would like to come along to one of our guided walks or have an existing group that would like a Friend volunteer to guide you around our park please contact Lindsay at l.measures@ampthilltowncouncil.org.uk   If you would like to be added to our mailing list to hear about events in Ampthill Great Park please forward your email address and we will notify you of activities, events and any works taking place in the park.
